I sat down this arvo trying to clean my sub and other boards for my trip down to sthern waters next week.
My WAXED boards had black marks on them from rubbing on the alluminiun rack i have on my HILUX.
Story goes , & my better half had suggested, try Lavender oil ??? its good for everything.
So me tongue and cheek try the home supplies
and immediatly i am eating black crow.
I cant believe it, Lavender oil lifts wax and scum from your board and you just have to cloth it down before reapplying wax.

Can Any one relate to this
hope it helps ya wax ers

Hi miko,

When we clean up waxed boards, we go to the local shaper and get a bag full of surf board blank dust. You take the foam dust and shavings and put them into an old stocking and tie a knot in it. You then use a wax comb to get the chucks off and then polish the boar with the stocking. The foam dust mixs with the wax and comes straight off. Leaves the board gleeming. Great for when your selling a board.

I use a some petrol from the mower tin. Use it with an old towel. Works a treat. Just got to make sure you wash it all off before re-applying the wax.

WD40 works well too - and smells better.

I've always used a wax comb & then cleaned the residue off with mineral turps on a rag. It works great but I reckon lavender oil would smell a lot better.

Acetone from the hardware shop works great if your trying to get wax off, especially if you intend to put deck grip on, And for a pre sale shine try a bit of tooth paste and water, your board will look brand new, i know it sounds stupid but it works.

Seems like overkill to use petrol, lavender oil, mineral turps and Acetone to simply remove surf wax! How long does one breath these fumes in for?

I use a surf comb or old plastic bank card to remove the bulk of the wax off my surfboard. Then use simple hot water from the kettle and a rag or 2. Pour the water over a section and rag off the melted wax. Work in several sections and it's all done in 5 minutes (10 minutes for a SUP board) without any chemical headaches or dead lawn.

As a bonus there is no residue. Simply put your new wax on straight away.

The acetone isn't to remove the wax just removes all the greasy residue before putting on deck grip, for wax 2 mins in the sun and a wax comb... Another one is the old big Kevs Goo remover,,,R.I.P Big Kev.

Super Cheap Auto - Tar and wax remover works a treat!!

Beware of pouring boiling/very hot water onto your board! It may cause delam's!

Hi All,

Any ideas on how to remove crude oil from deck grip left over from the recent oil spill from the Pacific Adventurer on the Sunshine Coast? (should of obeyed the warning signs and stayed off the beach)
I dont want my deck grip to melt with any harsh chemicals.

Thanks

Hey Drewstar, the TAR & WAX remover is best for final clean up after glue is removed.

For removing the 'glue gunk' a Citrus based 'sticker remover' from almost any Supermarket is best.I believe it is eucalyptus based.
Let it soak in for a few minutes. Scrape off as much solid gunk as you can with a credit card or similar. Apply again, wait a few minutes and finish with a rag. Repeat again if neceassary.
Once it is just a smear you can use the TAR & WAX remover.

Creatures grip is one of he best so speak to your dealer or CofL to find out why it lifted.

Cheers and happy gooey gunk removing!

Cheers AA, loving the 10'6 wide. Had her out at the Alley today in some decent swell. Starting to feel really comfortable on her now. Copped a few good floggings too!! What is the mat style grip you sell? I had a one piece on my old Naish and never had a drama. Leaning towards a one piece with a tail pad.

Stoked mate! There seem to be waves everywhere right now and everyone is PUMPED!

We have a single sheet of grip which is the grip PSH use in the USA.
I only have solid black left. More colors coming in September.

This is the most reliable grip we have found and it is what Casso & Hilly used for ULTIMATE TRACTION.

May the swells keep pumping!
