Hey guyz am just gettin keen on the sport, and doin my research, starting to get my mind set on a Naish Nalu 11'6" or 11'4", when I came across this review of a Naish Nalu 11'6" which broke in half in surf after 5 sessions and no warranty was given?

Found review and warranty issues here: http://www.supheaven.com/Naish-SUP-quality.html

Has anyone had any issues with thier Naish Nalu's, or any problems with warranty?

Naish has one of the best warranty policies in the business which I'm sure you'd get many to attest to. They do not, however cover breakage in surf as this is not too far adrift from driving a car into a tree and asking the manufacturer to pick up the repair - yes, it was an accident, car was supposed to stay on the black stuff, but it didn't. When a SUP board breaks in the waves it typically happens in smaller waves as this is where the boards gets wedged into the bottom and the stress has to go somewhere - hence the breakage. Is it an accident, yes, is it the manufacturers fault, no. If you wanted the manufacturer to build a board that could withstand this abuse the board would probably weigh twice as much.
So get the board you are interested in and rest assured you are under warranty for manufacturers defects, but not accidental damage.

I can vouch for Naish. I am 100kgs and have given my 9,3 an absolute pounding and it has held up very well.

All reputable brands will warranty manufacture defect. You can't control the forces of the ocean though. If they can't make nuclear power plants to withstand the ocean a few bits of foam, fiberglass, resin and paint have no chance.

I wouldn't call that a review, more likely a bitter shot at a supplier by a disgruntled buyer. They state that their warranty doesn't cover surf breakage, and it was broken in surf! In saying that, I'd probably be p!ssed off to, but unfortunately that's Naish's warranty conditions.

I bought a 11'6" Nalu a few months back (I'm 110kgs) and had no issues with it. I mainly paddle on flatwater and recently started surfing in 1 to 2ft conditions (kook) without incident, although I personally wouldn't go in much bigger surf due to the board length. I would hope that the fact it has a fitting for a w/surf rig that it would withstand some abuse, but as mentioned above, the ocean is a beast & can break anything. I'm happy with my purchase...so far!

If you want a surf-sup, go shorter/wider and get one that is designed specifically for surf, otherwise the Nalu seems like a great allrounder.

I creased my new "Reputable brand" board a couple of days ago. No big deal, I took it in and paid whatever it was to fix it. You don't take your commodore back to holden for warranty after a prang. Life is a gamble so unless the thing falls apart because of poor manufacturing then people need to take responsibility for there own actions
