I am planning my first trip OS surfing this year. Actually there will be 2 trips.

1. Fiji in June for a work conference. I am then going to add some surfing time on the end.

2. Probably Maldives or Sumatra in October. Just about to lock this one down thru a surf travel co.

Being my first time, I'm not sure what to expect but want to upgrade the SUP for a 1 board for all quiver. Anybody had any experience/recommendation with this. I would like to stay 9'6 to 10ft and close to 30 wide to cover all conditions.

I am currently 93 kgs and on a 9'3 C4 Subvector for really nice conditions and a Naish 10ft Mana for chop. Not sure if the C4 is the right board with a very flat rocker and a bit tippy in chop or surges.

So far I am thinking Coreban Icon or maybe one of the JL boards or even going custom. Suggestions welcome.

plug on with the c4 Sub. I am 92kgs and ride the 9'3. Had it out in 2ft to 7ft. today on a sucky reef break. It can take a drop pretty well despite its relatively flat rocker. It would be awesome at Sultans or Chickens in the Maldives. I cant imagine a bigger board would be more suited for all round use.

my 2c

Cheers,

Andrew

MY 2c..........................
Haven't surfed those places but jost got back from 10 days in Bali suping at Sanur. Took my Coreban Icon with me and it was outstanding in all the conditions. windy, glassy, fat slower waves and faster waves. Also nice in waist high to overhead + waves
I weigh 100kg and had it set up as a thruster but as a quad it flies!!

The person to speak to about the JL boards would be Jankie from kitesurf Bali. He's rides them in all conditions and can give you some advice on which one if you PM him - or if he's hanging around on the forum.....

Who are you flying with? We flew airasia and for $20 per board it was excellent. Took the 10' Icon and a 9'5" Mana. one thing to be mindfull of with the Icon is with a travel cover it comes in just uner the 15kg mark - great solid board though.

Traveled to Sumatra last year with a 9'6 PSH and am going this year with a 9'1 JL Kwad. I'm 95kg I've found the JL more stable and looser plus being smaller for travelling is a bonus.

Jodie and I had one each. We packed 2 paddles in one bag and wrapped a longsleeve wetty top around the shafts and a rashie around the blades. Paddles were fine packed that way. Don't think there would be a hassle with one person taking a couple of boards though, they were really friendly and didnt even worry about how much they weighed at Denpasar.

I'm here guys....

Not sure what to say...
If you already have a 9'3 why would you like to change!!!
All of those places should have good conditions..

I'm very happy with my JL Mano 9'0 but I'm only 70 kilos and now got a JL stiker 8'11 for my every day waist high paddling.

If you have a chance try the 9'4 Mano...
Bye Jankie
