This is a bit sad
I paddled past, only about 100m off the beach, less than half an hour before she was found....in front of Sandy pub.
I noticed swimmers but noone struggling....there is always swimmers out there.
I imagine there would have been a bit going on on the beach once she was found.
Did anyone else see anything??

Strange and sad.
On the return leg of our green point run I spotted a group of half a dozen folks in blue shirts gathered on the beach, Maybe about 7:45 or so. For some reason I thought they were school kids, didn't occur to me that they might be Police. Didn't see anything or anyone earlier but we were out well wide and focused on what we were doing, if anything the bay was unusually quiet early on. Heard helicopter overhead but it didn't sound like the Pol-air, thought it was maybe TV getting some footage of the lovely bay morning.

Just heard on radio that cops don't think there is anything suss about it.
Either an accidental drowning or suicide.
It's been bummimg me out all day to think I paddled straight past and didn't notice anything when I could have offered assistance.
Oh well....maybe she achieved what she set out to do....and I left my superman suit at home this morning anyway.

Apparently the body was found naked so it's all very odd. Yet, no suspicious circumstances, or so they say, which is often code for suspected suicide. Have to admit, when I heard this morning that a body was washed up at Sandringham, I dreaded the phone ringing to inform it was one of ours. Thankfully not, but very sad nonetheless.

Poignant footnote to this story - this morning there was a single red rose floating in the water about 150m off where she was found. 'nuff said.

Hi All,

To those that made posts with regards to a female body found in the water on 4.4.12 , well that was my big sister. Although my family and I are still dealing with the shock of her taking her own life, she is at peace now and I would like to thank anyone that was there at the time or whom has been impacted by this as I can see from some posts.

She obviously chose that spot as a calm and peaceful place to rest in peace.

Take care paddlers xox

No, this would be typical in a drowning where the body has been in the surf for a while. It also points to the unfortunate event happening well before you guys got there.

In passing, it is horrible that suicides are so common. They have touched my life too many times personally and in terms of surf rescues. All the best to her family, Shane.

Hey Juz,

I wish your first post on Seabreeze was under better circumstances. My heart goes out to you, your family and the friends that knew your sis. Take care.

Cheers Scotty
