So i had the pleasure...or pain (which ever way you wanna look at it) of watching 3 SUPers out at Brighton, well in between brighton and scabrough, while i was ment to be working

All 3 i think were on starboards but one in particular caught my eye.. He was riding a white board that was waxed rather then gripped padded.. And was doing some awsome nose rides and turns espeshly for the conditions..

So firstly id like to say you shred and i was wondering what fin set up your useing (if your on these forums of course)..Im just interested as one of my boards is a SB 10.5 Drive which i think was the board you were useing.. I could be very wrong as i was watching from the 8th floor of the construction site.. But anyway i would love for my board to be that loose and im assume fin set up is how uve done it..

Other then that has anyone else expermented with fin set ups on the SB 10.5 Drive.. I come from a bodyboarding back ground and have no idea where to start changeing fins wise..

I hope this makes sence thanks heaps

Hey Supbelly,

The first thing I did when I bought my SB 10'5 was remove the standard plastic sidebiters and replace with some smaller TC FCS whitelines I had lying around and move the central 7 inch fin as far forward as it could go. We generally dont get very big surf on the Sunshine Coast and it made sense to have a looser board. Having said that recently with some decent swell that came through the board still handled very well and didn't pop a fin on any bottom hand turns. On flat water paddles I put the 9 inch in as far back to give less yaw whilst paddling. I hope this helps?

The bloke you probably saw out there was Mike Galvin.
He rides a Technora Whopper which he has waxed up.
He let me take it for a paddle over at Rotto after The Doctor.
I love the look of the Technoras because they are white like surfboards.
I didnt mind the wax either
