Any chance of some advice from the SUPers here who say that boards break because of being in the wrong place? My SUP's are in one piece and I want them to stay that way - can you give me (or I guess anyone) some suggestions on how to stay in the right place?

EG what is the best thing to do if a big wave breaks just infront of you with no chance of getting over it? Is it time to Eskimo roll, dive under and hope for the best, try to get the SUP above the white water or something else? Any other ideas would be appreciated!

Cheers

Basically, the biggest chance of them breaking is when the board ends up under the lip. The board usually tends to be fine as long as you can get it away from the lip so it doesn't break on it. The only other time it may happen is on a big drop where the board lands hard or nosedives.

Sure most of the time it will be alright, but this is the spot where it is most likely to break.

my big issues is paddling out and almost, but not quite making it over a wave so it breaks on the board - I have no idea what to do in that instance. If I was windsurfing I guess I'd try to do a last minute chicken gybe try to "fling" the stuff up and through the face...

Bail...puch your board away from the lip and dive under
