I have an old GSI glass SUP paddle that I snapped in half about halfway down the shaft. The blade and handle are still fine and I have in fact cut off the shattered section and reattached the handle so I now have a mongrel short OC1 type paddle.
But I was wondering what the best options may be for a replacement shaft to turn it back into a SUP paddle. Would something like a windsurfer boom or mast section work? Cab you buy this stuff anywhere? And how do I remove the blade from the old broken shaft?

LOBES, we have successfully used the 'off-cuts' from KIALOA paddles inserted inside both ends to repair paddles. The top end of a KIALOA is a smaller in diameter than most paddles and if it is too big we cut ( grind) a slot with an angle grinder down its guts so it can fit inside. Epoxy both ends in well and you will find you have a paddle that works quite well. You will lose some flex right where you need it, but at least you now have a spare paddle that works.
And YES we do have off-cuts lying around if you want to give it a go.
Cheers
