I bought a second hand one and the shaft was broken by the post office, but the package was not insured. I phoned my Kiaola rep who told me that to change the shaft, you have to cut it from the paddle blade, and slowly grind away the ~4" shaft remains that is glued inside the paddle.
It seemed quite tricky to me (and I didn't like handling a big amount of carbon fiber dust), so I didn't attempt it.
I guess your best solution is to send the paddle to Kialoa or an agreeded repair shop.

I've swapped a shaft over for a friend once and it was pretty easy.. In the same way that you change the handle buy cutting it off 1/2" short and then doing two cross cuts far far as you can without cutting into the handle/blade and then squeeze it with pliers until the four bits break loose.. I have pics if you need them.
