Anywhere in/around Melbourne? I would love to try a 9'3 Sub Vector to see if they are as stable as they say

I have seen the C4 sub vector at OG13 and it looked like a nice board!

It did have an interesting rail shape and a concave deck.

It appeared to be very heavy for a 9'3 IMO, when I picked it up.

I would have like to surf it, but that wasnt an option unfortunately.

Regards

Phill

I have surfed and it goes amazing. All this semi custom C4's are made to customers prefrence when it comes to glassing.eg glassed light or heavy.
The one I demoed was semi custom and medium glassed and was so strong and light. I have a semi custom 9'3 on order as well as the 9'6 sub vector which should come sometime in August. Looking forward to that.

This could sound like a pretty rookie type question, but how do the semi-customs differ from the production models?

Hi Simon,

Can you give us an Idea of the retail on the 9'3 Subvector and is the Patagonia board available to demo now?

As you are aware I wanted to buy one but didnt want to do it before I demoed one on the water.

Phill.

OG SUP, the NewcastleSUP website says the semi-customs start at $1600, but that is for all C4 models, so the Sub Vector could be more than that. Hopefully that gives you some place to start, but it would be nice to see an exact price

All semi-custom models are $1895 which includes full deckpad, Futures Fins, Paddle Straps & 11'0 legrope. Sock covers are being sourced to be included for an extra $50 soon.
Semi vs Production?
Semi - Customer chooses size, glass job, colour/graphics or any tweaks or perks they would like.e.g carbon fibre patches/rails, channels etc etc etc
Production - Normal TEC constructed model. Cost will be on par.

winds up, training to do

catch ya

Is there any difference in the weight of a semi-custom (glassed standardly) and a "TEC" production model? And is it possible to get a different handle glassed into a semi-custom, cos I don't like the look of the three finger hole handles that seem to come standard on a C4? They look pretty impractical

I don't really understand why more popout boards don't come with leash plugs in the center of for carrying it using the paddle - seems like such a simple idea. I first saw it on C4 boards. Sometimes I have to carry my board up to 1km to the beach and back and this sure makes the whole thing easier - especially coming back:

Your right Oliver,
They should be standard on all boards. One day they will all work it out.

Oliver,

That looks like a fantastic Idea! I am going to have all the kids boards converted like that next week.

Phill.. This system works great.. It lets you carry the board easier that any hand hole and because you can move your hand slightly along the paddle shaft to get the perfect balance point where some hand holes are a little off and you don't have to worry about your fingers slipping out.

You can do it your self but most surfboard repairers will not charge much and leach plugs are cheap..

Here's a link if you want to do it yourself... www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=39934&SearchTerms=fitting,leach,plugs

It also means you can carry your board and paddle and still have a hand free to steady the board if it's a bit windy.

DJ,

I will drop them of with Dave Boyd at Imperial as he has made the boards and he can do the work, that way no warrantee issues.

To answer some of the questions...
All C4 boards, production & semi-custom, have had in-deck leash plugs since day one and all come standard with the paddle straps to suit.
The only board to have 3 finger holes is my own 9'3 which I chose when I had it made, some have had 4-5 finger holes, box handles and some without any at all. I guess that is the advantage of the semi-custom, the customer gets to choose!
Weight of the semi-custom? Well thats up to you, more glass more weight!
