Hi DJ,

This was just about the best wave on the coast this afternoon.

Camo really was up against it in the pics. The tide was really full and the regurge was pumping. He literally had to take off and bust a move in a few seconds before he got his A$$ handed to him. I was impressed to say the least and best of all he has so much fun doing it.

Enough said

Phill

Phill,
have you got the dimensions of the board & Camo's stats (weight/height)? Looks like he's enjoying it.

I'm sure Cam will chime in with the exact details but I've paddled his SurfShapes board and I think it's about 9'6".

I'm almost 90kgs and it floated me fine.. In fact very stable and a really nice shape.. I think Cam is about 85kgs.

G'Day Mollydooka,
the surfshapes board is 9'4" and 29.5 wide with a volume of 135 litres which is a bit over Rod's optimum surfing performance volume for my weight of 78kg which would of been 117 litres.Finding the extra volume handy when conditions are less than ideal[chop and wind] which would probably be 8 out of 10 surfs and also recently with the water movement surfing near a breakwall and rocks so yer I'm happy with it,
Cheers,
Camo.

Thanks Camo, Phill & DJ.
yes, very interesting. I've been riding a 9'8" Starboard for 3 months (bigger sup for 16 months before that) & want to try something with less volume. Starboard has 141 litres. I'm 73kgs, thus Rod's ideal volume is 110. Chatted with Rod some time back & he suggested around 125l (or thereabouts from the befuddled memory) for a bit of extra comfort.
Tried a mate's 9'6" Laguna Bay yesterday. 28" wide, & at that width probably a little tippier than (personally) desirable to handle all conditions. It was offshore but a little lumpy yesterday; fell off a few times but caught a few waves on it at our local reefie & loved the way it responded.
Camo, have you ridden the 9'8" Starboard? How does it compare to your 9'4" SurfShapes for paddle-power & surfability?

Never rode a Starboard Mollydooka, this board paddles easily into waves you'd never make on a longboard and as any 9' and above sup should,
Cheers,
Camo.

Rods boards are awesome my 8 6" is just about as stable as my 9 6" naish, catches waves nearly as good as the 9 6" but is heaps better to surf on, turns better and is faster down the line overall excellent board.
