Picked up my new Ron House 9-1 yesterday and decided to put a mozaic deck grip on it , I rang all my mates and picked all the left overs from there deck pads , 4 hours & a few beers later it was done. I threw it in the canal after I was done and gave it run with a gut full of beer and still managed to come back dry I put in a cross hair for my foot position and it was spot on with the knuckle on my big toe sitting right on it .The grip was sensational , you could just claw your toes and inch foreward without lifting your foot. I had 4 different brand of grips so I put the thicker grips at my foot area which worked out great.

Best part is it cost nothing bar my time and beer , here is a before and after shot.

And who said looks aren't important? That board looks great piros. Looks as if it would go well too. I still haven't got around to doing mine, booties are doing it for me, but you've inspired me to get my act together.

Nice work Piros. Keep us informed on how many/how often they come unstuck, if any.

What happened to the 9'2" PSH All Rounder?

How are the booties on your feet as is comfort??

Cheers

Mick

I tried peeling a couple off last night when I put them in the wrong spot and they wouldn't budge. So hopefully they'll stay put. The PSH went to a new home in Kingscliffe we just were'nt getting along.

8 boards ..boardjunky.

(thats probably only one half of the shed)

by the looks of that big yellow tombstone thingo in the corner, i'm tipping u have other water craft as well.

i used to be like that, but have trimmed down to 4, after counseling sessions at boards anonymous, still got a longway to reach that goal of 1 windsurfer and 1 sup,,, but i just dont have the will power.

nice paddle.

Interesting idea I would never have thought of that, how long and wide is that tow board on the right?

Windy you're right that is only one small corner of my shed plus I've got more in a another shed. Thats my double bend surfing paddle I finisihed late last year , I used to make outrigger paddles for years "Pirie Paddles" so I dusted off the tools and made a double bender.

Cranky:- the tow board is 6-1 x 15-1/2 made of carbon an kevlar , very heavy build very fast and loose board.

Scotty:- If you look at the way Lumey surfs the 9-2 he rips but we have very different styles , I've gotten really used to the quad set up on my 9-10 and no matter what fin set ups I tried on the 9-2 I just couldn't get it together I just kept kooking it on it but when I jumped back on the 9-10 all come good.I didn't like the round full nose it would push a make you hang a little on the take off but that was a pretty minor thing. I surf alot of open beach breaks and sucky surf ,so I think I would have been more suited to 9-3 ripper and I'm hanging out to try one out and if I like more than my other 2 boards I'll probably buy it as my wife now wants a board

No wax and the booties give great grip and are comfortable - handy if surfing reefs also. The difficulty is in in the surf when getting back on your board after falling off - as you tend to slide off your board with or without a wetsuit on.

hours of labour in each paddle?

Thanks Oliver

Might have to give it a go.
Almost finished my first SUP. An 11"6" for me to learn on mainly in flat water.
If I find I slip too much will have to go for the wax or grip.

Cheers
