Can the S.A. (South Oz) crew help us out with the correct way to say "Chiton Rocks" ???

Surely you guys say it like;
"Chi" must be like first part of "Chicken"
and not the soft "ch";
"Shi"ton Rocks....

Either way, it must be high on the list of Aussie Localities needing a name change !!

I have a place at Yorkeys Knob. It is affectionationately known by locals as "the Knob".

They have an annual Festival of the Knob. If you try hard you can be awarded the title of Queen of the Knob or King of the Knob.

Do English names count - Twatford
I am sure I also saw a Bone Dick Rd as I travelled to Robe one year

Russh, I wasn't taking the p!ss !! I was curious....

Your listed locals aren't my locals....

The local odd balls I like are;

Winki-Pop
Suck Rock
Bancoora
Suck-Up (Nth Av Syd, old local)
Tootgarook
Toongabbie
and
Kardinia Park, not Moorabin or Modialloc

I'm actually relieved it's called Kite-on Rocks !!

Maybe the locals can erect some signs underneath the official signage, for the tourists;

"Pronounced Kite-on Rocks!"

Geelong is an aboriginal place name I think... The aboriginals said to each other "Gee, Long Way Away!" and it became Geelong !! (nah, joking!)

We currently live in Mentone, which is just between Mordialloc and Moorabbin. We are moving to Torquay, near Jan Juc and just past Geelong by the end of this year. Tooraddin isn't far from here, we go past it on the way to Kilcunda, and when you say Tooraddin backwards it says Niddaroot.

I have found our town names hilarious since I was real little, this guy summed it up brilliantly a few years back, remember this??

Austin Tayshus...
Sittin' at home last Sunday mornin' me mate Boomerrang Said he was havin' a few people around for a barbie, Said he might Kookaburra or two.

I said, "Sounds great, will Wallaby there?"

He said "Yeah and Vegemite come too".

So I said to the wife "Do you wanna Goanna?". She said "I'll go if Dingos".

So I said "Wattle we do about Nulla?"

He said "Nullabors me to tears, leave him at home."

What about Cockburn, pronounced Co burn, by the locals.
For obvious reasons.
