My Christmas day started with a nice little surf on my Christmas present to myself..

After recently selling my old 9'5'' Alana Mana I bough a new normal 9'5'' Mana..

Merry Xmas DJ! The Mana looks great! I'm interested that the GT appears to have gloss finish on the bottom - my 10' Mana GS has a matt-finish. Hope you enjoy the new board, and keep the vids coming!

Merry Christmas DJ. I love the empty roads and surf in your video. Driving through Byron Bay at lunch yesterday was as quiet as it gets. I also remember one of the best surfs of my life was with my dad at 6ft glassy winky with only two other guys out, right at lunch time, best chrissy present ever!!

Another entertaining DJ production. Can't help but think and smile about the possible conversation had with the local constabulary when you get pulled over and have to explain the waving of the paddle out the window with the camera going.

Nice one DJ - hope the rest of the day was as much fun!! Ann & I did the same in glassy conditions at Wilsons Prom - the swell was coming through a bit bigger down here. Great way to kick-off Christmas Day - and to 'earn' Christmas lunch!!

All that for only 7 waves DJ!
Well that's 7 more than I got on Christmas Day. Spent the day in Nannup chomping at the bit hoping to get home for a windsurf. That never happened.
Happy New Year anywho DJ!

sweet video. Nice way to start xmas hey. Burleigh was windswept crud but everyone diligently paddled out turned around and paddled back in..just to keep the xmas day surf tradition alive.

Thanks.. I'm not sure what works best ( matt or gloss ) but I think the gloss is slightly more expensive to produce because of the added polishing process.. The gloss is pretty and looks classy but does show marks and scratches more.

That would have been interesting.. .. Lucky at 5.30am most other people were at home opening their Christmas prezies.. or sleeping in..

My little Suzuki really looks like a cartoon car from that angle...

Thanks for the nice comments and it's nice to know others enjoy watching an old fart that can't surf much other than just stand and glide..

A good surfer is someone that does things by instinct. Small adjustments without thinking. Usually the one that catches the longer rides and is in the wave "pocket' the whole time. From what I saw, for me, you're a gun.
Great vid m8!! Keep them coming.

By the way, noticed the Railsaver Pro tape - looks pretty schmick and breaks up all the yellow (I'm sure you don't mind an abundance of Naish-yellow!). Any hassles with the install or fairly standard?

I had heard about how good RSP (rail saver pro) is but I've never been a fan of rail tape myself in the past because I rairly hit my rails.. But on the odd occasion I let others paddle my boards I cringe when I hear my rails get hit and there's some paddlers out there that pretty much hit their rails every stroke.. and the amazing thing is that it's not just newbies.. Anyway.. I looked into buying RSP a while ago to put on my daily used board that I use paddling around St Kilda marina on because I'm often letting people have a go to prove to them that it's not that hard.. and I gave up trying to order it on line.. With it now available down under I decided to give it a go.. I like it.. I'll still tape the blades of my paddles..

On a few recent party waves I've heard our boards touch and where you would normally hear a crunch sound it was a dull thud as the rail saver did its job.. Also.. I had heard that others had transferred their RSP from board to board and when I first applied mine I didn't put it far enough forward.. So I just pealed it off.. and re stuck it down in the correct possotion.. It's a quality product and not just a tape.. I'm going to put it on my 9'1" Hokua and 11' Nalu now.. It may be slightly more expensive but well worth it IMO.

Good stuff - might have to look into it myself . Happy New Year DJ!

Is the new Mana an improved version of the old Alana or is it just a clour change?Must say not a big fan of current naish colours, especially the green on Nalus. But surprisingly don't mind the basic Alana colours minus the very girly bits, not saying I don't like girly bits
