Dedicated to Oliver!

I think Competition is good for the soul. Some always claim they don't like competitions, and are happier to call themselves perhaps a "soul surfer".

Soul Surfing Competitions... well that's not a bad way to describe today's Vic Titles at Torquay Point. A fun day, with some half serious and entertaining surfing thrown into the mix...

I maintain that you push yourself about 10% to 100% harder in competition mode, be that a BoP style race or surfing. Surfing, you go harder through your turns, you might choose to wrap a turn around further or tighter than you normally would.... BoP, you might feel like you are going 50% harder but only 4% quicker...

Competition assists with lifting performance levels, of competitors and equipment. If you were the best at what you do, and someone else gets better than you, you now have reason to go a bit harder that before.... For example - AFL - Collingwood becoming better than Geelong... Geelong go a bit harder, and are better than Collingwood again !!

PS - Vic Surf Coast for the goofy footers (for Cammo ).... there are actually a number of lefts floating around... Glennuse Av at Lonnie (too heavy on it day for most - an ultra short Teahupo'o on it's day), sometimes some left banks at Collendina if you search. Ocean Grove Reef Left, and solid left between the Bluff and 1st carpark at 13th, 13th throws up lefts, and my brother scores quite a bit of left action at greater Point Impossible.... he taught me there is actually about 6 different waves there, but most of us natural footers only see 2 or 3. Plus Torquay Point Lefts... A few of the boys were connecting traditional Torquay Point (Rights) into the reformed left on the inside... Paddle Blade in hand helps to "join the dots"!

Rant over.
