Just saw the coreban carbon/glass paddles.. Just wondering if anyone has used or knows anything about these paddles..They look nice but why the carbon/glass combo any advantage or disadvantage?

Not sure if glass has any advantages, it is more forgiving as it doesn't rebound as quick
as carbon but not sure when that would be an advantage.

At a guess carbon lighter glass less brittle so it is a compromise in weight for strength

I have the qb carbon shaft glass bladed Kanaha paddle I cannot tell the difference in weight over a full carbon paddle.

In contrast to carbon fiber, glass fiber can under go more elongation before it breaks.
It can be tricky stiffening an object with carbon, the carbon can be stressed to breaking point before the glass, so an appropriate amount of carbon needs to be used in the design.

I find it very hard to compare paddle weights by hand weighing, an accurate set of scales is the only way I can compare well made paddles such as qb or what ever.
A 20% weight reduction of a light 500gm paddle is quite a signifcant reduction when looking at light paddles, but in terms of actual weight, its bugger all, only 100gms....hard to notice when comparing a paddle by hand weighing.
But it can be noticed if say added to the tip of the blade only, particularly when rapid stroking in a sprint.
