Hi folks,

I'm new to SUP, but I have quickly fallen completely and hopelessly in love with this AMAZING sport! Sadly, for some reason I still don't understand, none of my friends can be persuaded to join me in the water (WTF?!)

So, if you are in the Cronulla area and fancy some company the next time you go for a paddle, please holla..

Hope to hear from someone (anyone) soon!

Keels

I was there today with 2 others, regularly paddle the Hacking/Wonny and surf nulla. Today paddled from Wanda around the island and back then caught a few little ones on the 14'er such fun

What are you paddling what do you like to do?

Regards

Greg

Hi Keels

Welcome to the obsession. I am down Cronulla 4 -5 times a week usually early am anywhere between wall and Wanda.

Ride a 9'5 Starboard Widepoint.

So you know what I look like below is a recent vid at Elouera, so say hi! Hope to see you on the water. By the way what are you riding?

Hi guys,

Thanks for you swift responses!

I'm very new to SUP so I'm still learning the ropes, but I'm totally addicted! I'm thinking about it all day, every day! Unfortunately I work long hours in the city so I'm restricted to weekend paddling. I've got a 9.5 Naish Alana, which I love. I've mainly been on flat water as I'm not all that confident yet, but I have been in the waves at Elouera once and it was totally awesome!

Hi Keels, Know the feeling the other half tells me i am addicted and would i just shut up about it....

I am down Swallow Rock 2-3 times a week and paddle up Audley (about an hour there and back),

started going down to wanda maybe 1 a week but the 12"6 race board is too big so getting a second board (after 3 months of SUPing).

send a PM if want to join for a paddle.

Hi Keels
I have not paddled for a few months now but quite often head to Gunnamatta baths mid week and l paddle down and around depending on wind direction good for about 45-50 mins and there are showers to rinse off and plenty of parking if early
Ill be back paddling this weekend as the kids sport and other commitments are done for the year
I started in Jan this year with a 12' Hobie ATR and haven't surfed it yet Ill start with Bay surf or flat days around Cronulla soon
Cheers Michael

Ha! I haven't been this excited about something since being a kid at Christmas! Learning something completely new at 33 years old is a bit daunting but i've pushed past that and I'm having a whale of a time :)

Hi Michael,

Are you are going to Gunnamatta this weekend? If so, I might join you if that's cool? I'm well up for meeting new people!

Hey guys

I'm knocking around in the Shire too. I usually do offshore fitness circuit on my Allstar weather permitting.... South cronulla to Jibbon or Boat Harbour and sometimes Guttamatta at night (plenty of light and peaceful!). Also like doing the South West Arm from Lilli Pilli to the end near the waterfall and back. Swallow rock Is a nice spot too launch from and have met up with Rob 'Air80' a few times, a real nice bloke and shift worker like me.

This summer would like to try some downwinding and would be keen on hooking up with fellas keen too so we can do the car thing at each end.

Never too late mate, I'm 38 and only been doing it for a year. Came from rowing and paddling background so pretty fit but standing up paddling is a whole new set if skills. It's been great for my Core and lower back which we're suffering from silly years of weights, team sports and lifting at work, SUP and physio have been unreal

In the office today, so thought I'd post a vid of Cronulla yesterday with some nice waves. Southerly today but hopefully there will be something at the beaches or baysurf for the weekend, or somewhere out of the wind in Port Hacking!

Excellent news Michael! Let's keep an eye on the wind (which I can't read for buggery) and confirm day/time. Anyone else keen? Come on don't be shy! :)

Great place to explore. There are a couple of channels cut through the mangroves to the East of Quibray Bay that lead to a deeper "hole". Not sure of it's history or purpose, but it makes for an interesting paddle through. Lots of things to see underwater on a calm day.
Keep an eye on the wind before you set off, as the bay can be challenging if a big Southerly blows up while you are out, as the relatively shallow water picks up quite a bit of chop, BUT its a blast on the right board with a bit of experience. There is usually a fair bit of wildlife both above and below the water, with lots of birds making use of the many man-made structures on the shoreline ot Towra Point Nature Reserve.
I've paddled here many times from Sandringham Beach (Dolls Point) and from both the front and back of Silver Beach (Kurnell) and discover something new almost every time I paddle there.
Enjoy, and if you'd like any further info on the area, I'm happy to help where I can.
Can't manage this week, but maybe another time or place. I'm in Caringbah and try to explore as much as I can of our beautiful waterways.
