Sometimes you just got to laugh. I ran home the other day to change boards and as I got to the sliding gate of my apartment I noticed the gate was just closing and as I forgot my key I stuck my paddle handle in front of the sensor. Totally missed and the gate crushed the shaft about 3 inches from the handle. What a dill.
Anyway I did a bit of cutting and pasting, stuck the handle back in and now it sits about 1 inch above my head. Funny thing is that it now feels like the right length for surfing and paddling. It's really comfortable, Go figure!

I broke my surf paddle right at the blade ferrule a while back, trimmed out the broken bits and reglued, lost about 3" and it's much better. Lots of folks are going to shorter paddles (but deliberately, usually ), what was the accepted wisdom about paddle length a couple of years ago isn't any more.

I drove over my QB paddle. Unfortunately it was right in the middle.
A mate had a spare shaft and has repaired it we'll use it as a spare.
