Just a few pics and an initial idea on the DC 9.4 big boys Performance Sup i demoed this morning.

Plan View

Bottom

Hard Edges

I would like to put things straight from day 1.

This IMO is not your take to the beach everyday board well at my weight 105 it isnt anyway, if Iwanted that there are other boards.

Forget your glide, for get your namby pamby nose riding, you want to go smash it!

You pick up this board when you want to cut loose.

The hard edges, deep concaves, pulled nose and big swallow have one purpose performance!

This SUP tested my meager talents and ballance for sure, but life wasnt meant to be easy. It took me an hour to dial it in and i fell off 30 times easy.

When i got the timing right, this baby rocks.

It projects well out of a turn and it generates its own speed, lots of it.

Then next 1 1/2 hours just got better and better.

The NO GO camera fogged yet again, I am so over it but I do have a few pics.

Getting some speed.

Paddle in about to pivot off the top.

To be continued its 3 - 4 ft this afternoon and building

Phill

Hey Tux,

Yes it it a lot less stable and I knew that from the first second I was kneeling on it.

It becomes more stable as soon as you get even a little bit of forward momentum.

By the end of the 2 1/2 hours I could stand stationary, but it really took a while to get it dialed.

The 9.6 WAA has more glide is more stable and nose rides like a dream.

The difference is swing weight, more speed (lots more speed) and it projects and drives a lot harder. I guess its more like the 9'6WR.

The pay back is way more performance.

I want to get Rich on it tomorrow or Saturday as he will have a better feel for it.

Remember, one is a general production board the other is a purpose built custom.

Hey BP welcome back,

This DC 9.4 is 9.4 x 29 1/4 x 4 5/8

Tux I have just been advise to loose the FCS inside foils on this board as they may be casuing the instability and put in my Sonny G's with a fin adaptor and push the center fin to the back of the box.

So off to have nother play and see what happens.

Both Hilly and Lacey have recommended it so I suspect there is more fun to be had.

Well I have now had the DC out for 3 surfs and its simple I want one.

I will only be able to ride it in great waves but man this board really rocks.

I know I will always surf like OG SUP but it makes me feel like Kelly Slater HA.

I have put my fave voldermort up for sale as I simply have no more room for SUP boards (or ways of hiding them in the garage from she who shall be obeyed sometimes), I am be accused of being a board hoarder.

Well Mr Chapman your board sucks!

In fat slow waves.

But

Give it some juice to play with and man:

Thank you to Rich who was designated photographer today as he had the flu.

Rich was buzzing so much more stoked than me, he was out of control when I came up the beach.

You gotta see this photo, oh and this one, oh and this one!

This was the best paddle board session I have ever had. The Pics just do not do it justice.

Simple the board made the difference.

I dont care if I never catch another wave.

Hey Dale your welcome hope you enjoyed it.

The reason the board is here is for everyone to demo it.

Thank you for letting me try your board too Dale it looks awesome and love the built in deck grip its fantastic. Unfortunately my wide ass just sinks it for me it would need another 15l of volume.

As you could see I didnt catch 1 wave on the dc 9.4 in the fat conditions at PRK but Damos was a total blast.

I have already given Dale Chapman some feedback on small things.

Camo rode it this afternoon for about 2 1/2 hours and another guy at Domos went out on it hardly ever ridden a sup before 88 kgs paddling around in 30knts offshore and he could easily stand on it.

He didnt catch a wave but not many people did today so thats not surprising.

The key issue is the primary stability is excellent with the right fins.

A little birdie told me that Rich ( session on seabreeze) is gonna have an 8.10 demo soon.

BP,

The PSHs are boards I can take to the beach on any day and I know they will perform. Thats the advantage of the tried and tested production board I guess.

This board for me at my weight 105 is a bigger day kook ripping tool and I love it.
But it was designed to be that way.

That I guess is the advantage of the local custom boards.

Dale Chapman built this demo with a guy my size in mind and with Lacey's help they got it pretty well perfect. I dont think I would change too many things.

Great work Phil,it was 28 degrees up here today without any swell the bbq's on tonight its like a summers day.
Question,I ride 9.4 longboards and I know you come from a longboard background. How would you compare the looseness between a performance longboard and the dc 9.4,if this question makes sense

I also prone surfed the 9.4 and Mac its really loose for a board that wide.

Paddles into a wave like a dream.

I could still bury the rail and it certainly gets lots and lots of speed.

I would really need more time on it but I may just surf it in the long board comp in a few weeks if I still have it and tell you how I go

SUP wise I have only just begun to get this board wired, every wave it opens up more and more ground. Session would tell you I only had it out for 1 hour today and by the end of the time by kook standards I was smokin.

He doesnt get that excited often let me tell you!

Thanks also Phill for the demo on the DC 9'4".A bit unfortunate the wind went from a forecast 10knots to 25+ but still I came away feeling impressed with this board.Plenty stable for me and liked how easy it was to paddle onto the wave.
Sounds like we maybe will have another to try soon or even another go on this one without the strong wind would be a bonus,
Cheers,
Camo.

hi, ive reckon you would be up for the standard dc 8 10 no worries.if i come down i will hopefully bring mine down so you can compare the standard 8 10 against mine which is thinner overall and the tail pulled in a bit.

Yer thanks Lacey for the offer, would be great to compare the boards.
What benefits did you find from the changes you made to your custom board from the standard 8'10"?
Thanks,

just a bit more refined, we took off 1/4 inch the thickness, the rails are lower too and took off 20mm of each side of the swallow tail that ran up just past the front fins, about 4 litres less.i want to try for even more sensitivity

Well I got in another quick session this aftenoon on the 9.4 in some small ish but clean waves.

The wind was still 20 + knts but the wave face down to chest high.

Timing is everything with this board and I was still sitting right in with the pack but the rewards were fantastic speed down the line and I did get a couple of nose rides (well 3 inches from the nose).

The smaller fatter waves needed radical paddling to get into with the wind, the rest was pure pleasure.

Hey Casso,

Dale definitely knows the performance side of Sup.

We are going to see a DC 8'10 next week so that will be interesting?

Krisitana tried Nikis DC 8 x 25 x 31/4 and man that rips too.

I've got Dales original DC8'10" and man that board rips! It's hard to get back on my 11' after this one. It just likes to surf shortboard style - no long board moves on this baby.
