Ok, all this wind in Sydney, we have Melbournians (whom seem to never work) going off on a DWder every other day, even Qld are doing it........whats happening in Sydney???

If we were to orgainse one with these NW winds, I am thinking Kyemagh to Kurnel? Straight accross the bay, thoughts.

and just for the record, being a newbie, I am definatly not ready but if i was....

Yes, Kyeemagh to Kurnell would be spot on in a NWester. At approx 6-7 k it would be a good stretch for my first DW as well. Silver Beach at Kurnell is a good stretch so if the bearings went a bit skew we would be sweet.
Yes, I do wonder how much work gets done north & south of the border.
I'm up for it and Surf Animals is keen.
Blowing off shore there would'nt be many swells to run which is cool for my first.

If you're going Sunday, you might bump into the Iceberg Harbour race, doing a triangle course from Georges River to Silver Beach to Novotel Brighton and back (18K). Should be some SUP's there, but they will be going the opposite direction.
Good lukc, and post some highlights if you go, I'd be keen to see how you fare. I've done some runs from Dolls Point in a roaring Southerly, and also upwind from Silver Beach in a Northerly - great cruise back home.

Here's the link http://www.harbourracing.org.au/eventW2.asp
I'm tied up with kids sports for next 4 weeks on a Sunday morning which rules me out for this coming Sunday. The Sup course is only 8k which turns around at Silver Beach back to start.

I'm good for Saturday morning at say 8am. I'm flexible for start time. If winds are crap we can head up Cooks River. I might find my lost paddle.
Shiresup are you sweet ?

taren point to kurnell would be better, or start further west if you want a longer run. going to be up to 15 knots from the west so you would want to travel directly east. you would get blown out the mouth of botany bay on that last stretch to kurnell if you were coming from the north!

Not keen for DW. Am keen for River paddle.
A downwinder from Sandringham to Kurnell will only take 30 mins at most due to it being about 4k. The drive back to point A will take longer. Not worth the logistics.
I am keen for a Cooks River paddle starting at Kyeemagh and heading up river. We can paddle 6,8 or 10k whatever suits you. I like the river paddle as it is protected from the wind and you can just grind away with no wind assistance. Personally I need to feel like I've earnt my breaky afterwards. I love my smoked salmon, poached eggs on sourdough with 2 large flat whites. It does'nt get any better then that. Livin the dream. Good paddle, great breaky. Sound good ?
