....I did get out for a paddle on the 14'er, but was on the water before the sun was up. It was pure glass and beautiful. Would have been great to back up the early paddle with a downwinder once that wind kicked in. What did it get to, 20 - 25 knots?

Yeah Ross, 20 - 25 knots sounds about right but apparently some peak gusts up around 35 - 40 knots according the the bureau. On the New, it wasn't so much a matter of paddling - more just strapping yourself in and holding on.
