You can see why the Naish 17 has such a narrow/pointy nose because it will go under every now and then.. and you don't want it slowing you down.

dj, the crew with dc have worked hard to have flatter rocker boards, but with dihedral and reverse shaped deck nose- almost looks like the bow. when you look at them from the front, the top and the bottom of the board look the same. what that does is give a clean entry into the water with no catching. the dihedral then cuts the water away. a standup is always going to be too wide to continue at speed with the nose under compared to say skis, oc's extra, but we are getting clean entry and exit. usually when the nose goes under a bit, you are going to get a cracker of a runner. while i'm not looking to have the nose under all the time, it is nice when you need to you have it under a bit, we are getting a lot control. even less than a year ago having the nose go under was a bit of a problem. just goes to show how far and quickly designs world wide are getting better
