If the wind is howling from the south with biggish swell, whats the best place to do a DWer in the Sutherland area??

Has anyone paddled Bundeena to Kurnell??

If anyones going this weekend let me know.

cheers

A lot of ski and outrigger paddlers paddle between Gunnamatta and Kurnell on a Southerly, cutting straight across Bate Bay from Oak Park to Voodoo. You can pull in at Boat Harbour , but not again until Kurnell. Not done it myself, but know its a popular run with ocean paddlers. I'm sure someone would have done the same on a paddle board. Bonnie Vale to Oak Park to Darook and back is a good shorter option to get you back where you started. Or Gunnamatta (uphill) to Bundeena and back is a fun run that I have done many times on ski, oc1 prone paddleboard and standup. I also know some folk that have caught the ferry into the wind and cruised back under paddle / wind power.
Too many options.

Audley to Yowie Bay is also a really fun option if the wind is SW and if you don't want to go 'outside' as such....I'll be sure to let you know next time I'm doing a run but won't be this weekend.

Just getting over a hospital stay and illness.

yeh I've always been up for this type of run , boat harbour - cronulla or anywhere around the bay will be fun in the summer time with the right northerly winds!

What time are you looking at on Sat?

WHat board are you riding?

I'm interested not so sure about the Gunamatta to Kurnell, in a SW miss a little and next stop Tahiti?

But reckon it works on a NE the other way

But my Nalu is no DW board

Hey Guys,

I'm riding a Fanatic 12'6 Carbon.
Keen as to do a DW'er somewhere Saturday.
I paddled from Elouera > Boat Harbour > Shark Island > Elouera this morning.
Def wasn't a downwinder, but was pretty easy going so with some wind up the backside it should be easy.

Ill check Saturday morning and see what people are keen to do..

Bring it on

I'll be up for it once I get a proper DW board, might be a couple of months but it will be coming and I will be joining in

Just old got a real old crappy 4wd so it can take us to Boat Harbour, sneak out behind the reefs and get blasted back to Darook in a NE and vice versa in a Sthly

Looking forward to it...

I would be up for that run too, just can't make it tomorrow though. Should be good from boat harbour to gattamatta once the summer nor-easters start howling.

With the chop that generated just this arvo and the SE wind im going to investigate the chance of doing a quick headwind punch gunamatta to bundeena then a sweet DWer from jibbins lagoon back to elouera. Ill post back at 10am after a weather check.

Go the eagles!

Well the forecast was right.

the wind has backed off big time.
A small dribbly 1-2ft onshore wave rolling in at Wanda but thats about it.

Guess its the day to clean the house.

Keep your eyes open for tomorrow, supposed to crank in a again.

have a good one
