Had a great sup at crunchies until a surfer( who was on the peak with us) drowned. He either had a heart attack or hit the reef face first. Many people tried to resuscitate him but he had been under the water too long.Ambos arrived and pronounced him dead. He was a good surfer and was talking to us out on the peak seemed like a nice guy. Condolence to his family and the young girl who realised he was in trouble. Makes you realise how fragile we are.

Sad news..

We were up at a nearby break.. Glad we didn't go to Cruncies now..

It was great conditions so I hope his last surf was a good one..

From working 20 years in an Intensive Care Unit I've learned that you never know what's around the corner.. not matter how old.. how young.. or how fit you are.

Very sad, condolences to his family.
On a personal note I hope it's not someone I know.

Terrible. Sorry you had to have that experience. I've had a good surf end that way before and it's awful. good effort for those responding that's not easy and there was nothing that could be done by the sounds of it. Look out for each other.

He was way too young and of course it's just dreadful for his loved ones. But I think he achieved almost the ideal exit. If I had a choice, which I don't, I'd be up for that exit - maybe big left would be better.
