What are warning signs that it's time to rip up the deck grip & repair a potentially fractured deck on a PSH? The deck has depressed further than normal under my front foot paddling area.

Maybe push the board under water if you can, and see if there are any bubbles releasing at the edges of the deck grip. If there's a particular area you suspect is fractured, get a pin and pierce a small hole through the grip, then hold it under water. I don't think this is a particularly foolproof method, but it could help to justify ripping up the pad.

^^^ This technique will simply add more water to the board if there is a leak.

Check for sponginess & weigh it against it's specs.

If you want to find if you have any fractures, put a small amount of soapy water over the suspect area & (this obviously only works if there is a vent) add a 'small' amount of positive air via the vent hole to the board & hold your finger over the hole. From lack of equipment, I simply drilled a hole in an eraser & used a ball/bike pump - should only need a couple of pumps. If there's a leak it should start to bubble from the crack within 20-30secs...don't do what I did once & give it too many pumps...this will de-lam the board!
