Blane Chambers from Paddle Surf Hawaii, has posted an idea on the Stand Up Zone which might be of interest to some of the radical surfers out there - www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=1997.0. Aside from the performance benefit, how good would this look on the Naish boards with the wood grain showing through.

Anyone know how to take off an old deck pad?

They should bring out a deck pad with holes and squares cut into it all over and you could do two boards with it..

One board with the holes and bits that came out and one board with all the holes and bits missing.. ..What do you reckon..Patent the idea..

I've invented a device to do it with. I'm not sure whether to call it a deck pad fragmentation facilitator, or just call it ... scissors.

SF, very carefully.

Use a sharp blade, one of those wide style snap off type. Just slice carefully away at the glue and not the board or pad. Probably take the best part of an hour to do.
If done right you can contact cement it back on again.

I can only guess the extra grip is generated by the different angles each bit is stuck on. I guess you need to try it to really know. Worth experimenting on the nose of a board first. I like the raised edges on the naish and JL pads.

Removing grip - what fun!!

I have found the best way to remove grip is with a heat gun.
Gently heat up the grip and the glue will release.

I have removed and re-gripped (with contact cement) a complete C4 grip this way.
JUST DONT BURN THE GRIP or the board Javascript:insertsmilie('')

We actually have off cuts of this PSH grip if anyone wants to give it a try.

We also have it in sheet form - 23" x 28"

Keep on paddling!

I've done it with a hair dryer and it worked fine. The pad and the glue came off easily in one piece. The pad had not been on for months so I don't know if that makes a difference.
