Ok folks, I have a friends 10'ish Hawaii Paddle Surf SUP and she left it on a car roof on a hot day and 40% of the deck has lifted off the Polystyrene in the standing area of the board. So much so that I can fit my thumb in the void between the Polystyrene and the deck skin. The board doesn't have a breather.
Deck has a 3mm PVC core either side of 4 oz fibreglass with a second layer on top.
First thoughts was to peel the deck pad off, drill a series of holes in the skin under where the deck pad usually is at each end and infuse the deck skin to the Polystyrene again. The resin under vacuum should take the path of least resistance and should travel between skin and Polystyrene.
Option 2 is to cut the damaged deck skin off and fibreglass a new deck with 3mm core and replace deck pad, with the deck pad hiding the repair.
What are your thoughts?

Option 2 buddy.
The boards probably stuffed anyway, so option 2 is easiest.
Resin as such doesnt have good gluing properties by itself , so infusing it may be time consuming and may not work.
Option 2 is a more guaranteed option to my mind

If there is as much area damaged as you say, then sure, you may as well go Option 2, especially as it is not the critical wetted surface part of the board so a dodgy join won't matter. Also, you will not doubt be replacing the deck pad so aesthetics are not an issue. For a smaller and more critical area, Option 1 may be best.

1) to infuse you need lots of pressure ,and that pressure will crush your EPS core
2) if you were to somehow infuse it at a lower pressure the resin will fill the core and you would gain maybe 100kg.
the correct answer is method 2 , i would suggest the 3mm High desity foam gets stuck on with the initial lamination (definetely use glass underneath! ) , then another layer over the top of the HD foam sheet
Did it have black deck grip ? If yes i would switch to grey or the mottled stuff , EPS starts to melt at 77c deg and black will get up to 110 c on a 40deg day..
