We are keen on windsurfing but want to buy a board that will we use a lot, not just for windy weather and not that we will grow out of quickly...I am about 50kg, my son 25kg (11yrs) and I have two daughters 9 and 4. Any recommendations for windsurf SUP boards? Do I have to buy two boards? Or can we get away with one for us all? My son and I have basic windsurf knowledge and skills. Cheers for any responses.

I would go the SUP board with a windsurfing option. With that you would see most of the major brands fitting the need. I would humbly suggest that Starboard offers the biggest range available, as for size, at 50kg you won't need something big I wouldn't think, however, it needs to be stable. The benefits of getting a SUP with the windsurfing option is that you get two sports for one price, keeping the price down. I windsup quit a bit and find the starboard wide point 9'5 to be my board of choice. I reckon you need to go and see your local shop though and try to demo a few boards, a good shop will allow a demo and you can build a relationship with them.

I recommend the new Naish 10'6".5 Nalu in the AST because it's a great shape and great price.. I loved paddling it today and it comes with a mast base insert for windsurfing.. It would be a great allrounder family board and also great for getting into windsurfing.
