Bastion Pt, Mallacoota. This is my local break which the Minister for Planning, Justin Madden, has just decided would be better with a 100mtr long breakwall going right through the take off!
He has just lost my vote.

WTF is wrong with MP's did they never have a life?????

epic wave sailing spot, surfing spots etc etc lets wreck it to make a harbour or port

why do they have to pick on the good wave spots instead of the other 99.9% of the coast.

Yep, a great wave! Never crowded either unless over the Xmas break.
Not the most consistant either. That shot is probably the best I have seen it in 4 holidays.

Definately good wave sailing there and around down on the beachies/river mouth.

I heard about this proposed wall ages ago and I can't believe it could be going ahead.

Is it down the line wavesailing at Bastion Point?
Tip Beach I here has some real good but inconsistant waves?
I read Allo's letter and he has some very good points to be raised reguarding the breakwater.
Lets hope it stays the way it is so one day I can come visit for a surf, windsurf and SUP

Yep down the line but is very gusty. From memory S or SW is the wind you want. But it's rarely over chest high. We used to sail out of the river mouth and hit the beachies around there. That coast get a lot of NE'ers as well which I enjoyed more.
The best thing about Mallacoota is the abalone you can get off some of the local guys. Biggest I've ever seen!

HMMMMMM,

Makes me think that all of us (Long Short Goat Knee Boogie Boarders Sweepers) etc etc etc) Should send the Govt a message that we dont like thier Idea!

We should work on this concept and close ranks!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mambo event, back when it was wavesailing only, used to head to Mallacoota if a SW kicked up. Not sure you could do it with the kites.

I had a couple of good days down there, never anything like that but good all the same. My memories of it is that it was bloody cold even in late November, and the wind was really gusty. Oh and the river we sailed out of didn't smell so great .

Shame to see break walls going everywhere, look at the mess they have made of the Gold Coast with them. Every time they put one in there is an adverse effect somewhere else. It stands to reason that there has to be, you stop the natural flow of sand and water and somebody somewhere is going to suffer.

Hi Dean
While Madden has passed it, it still has to be passed by the Minister for the Environment, and will need to be funded. So there is still some hope!
Interestingly, Madden went against the panels recomendation.
The wave on this day is the point at its best, 4 to 5ft, no one out.
The point is too protected to sail or kite in a southerly, but can be good sailing backside in a North Easter.
cheers.
