Interesting sign down at Flinders (Big Left) yesterday..

I walked right past it without noticing it until later when I looked at my pictures.. Sorry no action shots.. Oliver, Jonathan, Rosecoe and a few other SUP's were out and there were some good sized sets coming through.

It was a great day.. I was glad I had my big Mana because it was pretty lumpy out the back.. I was pretty buggered after a few hours and feeling old age creeping up on me after taking a few big ones on the head.

Hey DJ - slightly off topic but gotta ask anyway after seeing your bamboo N. Do you reckon there is any noticable weight difference between the original white deck mana and the new bamboo manas in the respective lengths ?

4 Naish pimps
2 Kialoa pimps

Oops that's right it was about some bubbles-so where's the legible photo of the relevant sign?

Loco, you might have missed the Roar plug via the cap, Quiksilver Wetsuits, and Gath Helmets, and a general scenic plug on behalf of Tourism Victoria.

Very nice fun waves on the Torquay Reefs this mornings. I think that was Dean at Bells while I opted for Lowers.

That's what I'd like to know.. I only noticed it in my pics.. Next time I'll read the sign and I'll let you know.

Last night I was looking at those pics of Jacko on the Javelin and it got me thinking about how much I miss paddling mine.. It's been weeks and weeks of cold wet and windy weather here in Melbourne.

This morning I woke up to perfect Jav weather..

I had forgotten just how good it looks.. and paddles in these conditions.

I chose to use that new cheap Kialoa paddle.. Jeez I like the size and it seems about half way between the Methane and the Shaka Pu'u.

I hope when they do their new race paddle it's this size.

The water in Melbourne is the clearest that I've ever seen it.

There was this nice South African girl at St Kilda Pier that I spent some time talking to.

There's not much in it.. If I had to guess I'd say the bamboo is lighter.. My friend bought my old Mana so I'll pop over with mine one day and weight them both.

Mana Weights;
It is possible that Bamboo is heavier, slightly, but maybe also stronger, assuming the old Mana was just fibreglass layers and epoxy. I am not sure of the construction methods and layering of either though.

But on the new N boards is the bamboo an extra layer of deck construction or is it replacing whatever the top layer was on the previous model ? Is the bamboo deck more or less resilient to depressions ? (and before anyone thinks I am having a dig - I am not I actually want to know)

I think the bursting bubbles thing must be about kelp bubbles rather than other seaweed bubbles ??? Maybe some rare snail is blowing bubbles in the sand dunes. :)

Mana - you would expect the bamboo layer to replace an old layer, and more resilient, but I don't know!
