...you might have too much fun!

Took out the C4 Waterman SwitchBlade 12'6 last week after hearing how much fun everyone is having "surfing" 12'6 race and BOP style boards. Took a while to get the hang of it, but had an absolute blast!

The quality took a dive when I loaded it onto Vimeo. Is there a way to keep quality high on these vids? Still took hours to load.

Terrific Vid and beautiful board! Are they any good for downwinders and what price are they if you're not a sponsored surfer?
Cheers Leroy

Yep, nice looking board, probably designed more for ocean paddling, downwinders/in & out stuff, than flat water racing, but its no slouch to paddle. Just loves the waves.

Priced pretty much the same as most of the other good 12'6's on the market, around the $2300 mark.

Haha, lovin the dark side. Filmed it with GoPro on chest mount, and found it a bit hard to watch myself at times, keep wanting the camera to look up.

I was thinking about getting a specially designed ocean going downwind board , probably as long as possible for ease of gliding onto open ocean swells. I don't need to turn much as I will prodominantly be going in a straight line as fast as possible.
After reading this , I think I may also use this at the Alley as well to surf when the waves are good.
Do you think something in the 16' range would be a good multipurpose board or should I get something in the 14' range considering I want to use it to surf?

16' is to long to surf, but not impossible. sounds like a 14' er would be the go.

you will still need to turn in the ocean. a 14' er that responsive without having to get on the tail is the go.

i'm sure the shops around the place can organize some demos for you to try

Anyone tried putting a mast track in a 14' downwind board for the occasional wave sail? Do they only come as single fins. I wonder if they would be easier to turn on a wave with a couple of side fins ?

11 mins a bit long to watch. Maybe a bit more editing needed to keep the time down. I haven't used Vimeo yet, only Youtube.
