I've just received a blue Future Down Wind fin and it seems very long. I am using JM fin at the moment which is a little shorter and swept back more, the DW fin is very upright and is 13" long. what are the advantages of this and is it suitable to be used on my 12'6" or is it to long for that

No advantage IMO and there's even a few disadvantages.. and IMO it's wrong for them to call it a DW fin.

I would stick with your JM fin.

Maybe swap it for the Triangle Cut Away - Medium.

On a different note, Noah Yap, team rider... Well done!

I have that fin. It's not bad at all, gives the tail a bit of a lift. I don't use it often and I've never tried it in a 12'6" board. I think the advantage comes down to what board you out it in. I've just gone back to using the stock fin in my K15 which is like that Future Fin only shorter. I think it keeps the board tracking straighter when the current and wind want to push the nose around. The swept back fins or dolphin fins don't seem to help that board very much.
