Nice work DJ, looked like a ripper outing.
Did I see an Ace Bop and an Ace Pro (and the pierce toruing?) in the fleet...how did they go?
I was on the 12'6 x 26.5 BOP, it was fun, low nose rocker means you need to walk it to keep the nose out but it does pierce and recover very well. Seemed to be quite critical, walk back too far and it would stall, stay too far forward and it would pearl, after a few k I started to work it out and it was really fun then. Once actually on a reasonable wave It surfed beautifully, felt really stable and responsive. But you know what, 12'6 for down winding really doesn't do it for me. I'd love to try it in some actual waves, what it was designed for. It's a small board, have a feeling for most people the 28 would be a better BOP board. Can't work out why the deck pad doesn't run all the way back, the Startouch is actually super grippy but I like the real grip of edges of deck grip - I'd be doing some deck grip crazy paving straight away if it was mine.
Milo had a smile a mile wide after his run on the Pierce Touring, he was way way faster than usual on down winders, like the BOP the upside down piercing nose is very very forgiving of being pearled and recovers straight and cleanly. Interesting, let's boards with quite low nose rocker work well as downwinders. Seems to make sense unless it's really huge conditions.
And the Ace Pro, well Cam was on it and he was just gone....
