Is the rocker quite different between the glide 29 and Jav 28?

+3 for a SIC custom. That was easy..


Now now back to reality..

I have both the SIC 14' x27.5" V2 bullet and recently got a Blue Planet Bump Rider 14x28". The boards are very similar, however the Blue Planet down winds better than the SIC with a little more volume, being slightly lighter too. Neither is super quick up wind or in the flat but both are very stable. The Blue Planet is under $3000 new being cheaper again by almost a $1000 new.
Also the Bump Rider comes in a 30" version. Look up Blue Planet Australia, they're located in Tuggerah NSW. Good luck with your choice.

It's not 14' for starters but as an all-rounder i'm finding the Ace GT ticks a lot of boxes!

Interesting you say that.....surely a board that is a bit on the wider side will be slower and therefore not get on the wave quite as easy?

The "canoe" shapes slide and glide through the water.
But flat bottom boards get up and plane, when going downwind.
I had an awesome DW run on an old 12'6 x 29 Full Carbon Fanatic... Fairly Flat rocker... ... Wide tail.
I was on the plane for what felt like 90% of the time...

Physics tells you that you need extra planing area for extra weight.

I have the Glide 14 x 29 but I think a higher volume option will work better for someone like yourself who weighs over 250 pounds. The starboard allstar 14 x 27 or 28 are higher volume and will go better upwind and you won't be giving up much, if anything on the DW. Better all around options imo. Nsp dc have good options for ocean boards as well and the jimmy lewis sidewinder will be released this spring with choices for bigger paddlers for an all conditions training board. The custom route has been mentioned as well which would be something to consider.

the SIC's are good for one thing. down winding! pigs in the flat. you wouldn't train on a custom SIC 14 bullet unless ur training is 25knots down wind everyday.

SIC make extremely successful flat water race boards (eg. the X series), and if you go custom as many of us were suggesting then SIC would make you exactly what you need, which in this case would probably be a hybrid (maybe like the FX, but SIC have done various custom hybrids in the past including UL ones).

SIC don't just make downwind boards. Take a look at the SUPRacer battle of the brands leaderboard - most of those points have been won using their flat water boards not their downwind ones.
