Well after driving all the way from OG to Lorne and back with out any luck finding a wave out of the nasty easterly Kristi and I caught up with Session in Torquay on the way back and decided to do a down winder PMSL on the Barwon.
All 3 of us launched at LP and paddled towards the Barwon Bridge. I usually do this trip 5kms in about 34 mins return against the usual 15kn SWer.
It soon became apparent that the out running tide was ripping along at about 7-8 knots due to the 0.28 low tide lol. So it was an extremely quick trip to the bridge.
The tide was due to turn when we got to mouth of the Barwon or so we thought and that would give us some assitance toget back.
The best laid plans of mice and dumb ass SUPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The wind increased from the east, the tide strengthened and we were in for the paddle of our lives.
To improve matters no end we had picked the most high peformance flat water speed machines available in our quivers to do the Up Wind Down Currenter from HELL!
I was on a PSH 9'6 AA and Session was on a PSH 9'6 Ripper lol his second trip out on his new stick lol.
Lets just say that Surfeechicks noodle arms ran out of grunt very quickly so she patiently waited on the sand near the bridge whilst Rich and I made ground up river 1 inch at a time the whole 2kms back.
I dont need to do any more exercise until 2050 at least and boy is my next paddle onto a wave going to be a pleasure.
Surfeechick was building her 3rd sand castle by the time I got back but she had as usual caught up with some friends walking the river banks while she waited so all was good.
Thanks to session for joining in on another adventure ( he neva says no) and tomorrow we are going 2 wheeled skate boarding if the easterly doesnt blow out!
Phill
