I was expecting to see Santa on his red-and-white sleigh board on that downwinder.

Yes Mr 'Toon, Camo didn't want to take up your kind offer of the suit, not sure why.....something about being too colour coordinated for the D/W, disappointing I know, there's always next year...

David,

thanks for giving Kristi some pointers she really appreciated your help.

She said she had a ball on the down wind run at Merimbula but on the 12'6 in the bay it was pure hard slog.

No wonder she slept in the car on the way home

By the way you go pro set up is the shiz!

On the subject of Santa you must have popped out at the wrong time at the SUPVic Xmas BBQ Mr Toon. You missed the best appearance by Father Xmas I have seen in many a year. Santa had more lines than a Pixar movie and captivated both young and old. Most importantly he cleared up the 14 v 12.6 conundrum. Try and catch him next year, he promised to give us the definitive word on paddle length.

David I might be wrong but I thought I saw a 60's longboard soul arch or to in that vid maybe aroun 5:15 we would need Mac to give us some insight on that one to see if its legal or not.

Ha.. No.. Just a relaxed one handed paddle drag and a half hearted thumbs up.. A sorta quiet yee-haar moment when you're in the groove... I might try getting well forward on the board one day and trying a stylish soul arch..

Kristi did great and it was a bit of a long hard slog without much wind but getting the most out of those light conditions takes a lot of experience and skill that's not learned overnight.. It's also about conserving energy so you can be ready to pounce when the moment is right.. It took me a while to even catch up with Kristi at the start.. Also patience in picking the right runner to paddle for and knowing which ones to let slip past because trying to catch the uncatchable is a huge waist of energy and very disappointing.. I'm sure after a few more things will start to click for Kristi and with that will come more speed.. and more importantly more fun..

Phill.. We hope to see 'you' and Kristi joining us next time..

That shot at 1:30 where you leave that poor young girl standing forlorn and alone in the middle of the unforgiving sea. So sad.
