Great to see Andy's name up there regularly. He's obviously paddling really well.
Any video?

Obvious question but if it was a headwind why didn't the organisers switch the race direction around. Surely there must be alternate courses depending on wind directions - or am I missing something???

teatrea, yeah i was dissappointed. took a punt on the shoreline looking for something and got smashed.

the only constellation is when i looked at the maps tonite i probably paddled an extra km in that stuff.

a good effort to race after your back trouble

Im guessing that since its not a SUP only race with SUP only in mind......AND considering the last minute logistics to achieve that, that would be a huge thing to organise and you have ALOT of people being put out due to already orgainising there vehicles/family/friends etc etc etc.......everyone was in the same conditions so whats it matter.....

Good question!!!but i think they made the right call as to change the set up at the last min would have been a nightmare!! nearly everyone i spoke to at the end of the race were fine with the way it was run and everyone had a nice smile and glad they did it.

I thought it was a good race and i liked the way it stayed nice and close between the top 6 and where any little mistake and anything could have happened!! it was great to see so many stoked people hanging out afterwards..

Jacko

i don't think much would have been gained changing the direction.

you would have been paddling into the main swell.

six of one, half a dozen of the other.

surfing qld give the race the best chance possible by holding it at this time of year.

one other thing,it's hard to paddle up wind on a sup, but prone paddlers, oc's and skis aren't keen on it either.

my only oc1 race was up wind and when we finished everyone was saying one day we will get a dw race, so it just not isolated to sup events

cheers
