The Southport seaway bombie was epic yesterday afternoon , so we loaded the boat and hit it at first light this morning, when we got to the Seaway in the dark the whole entrance was closing out , we waited 10mins for a bit of light and picked our way out 800m to the back of the break..

It was huge but to our disappointment it had severe morning sickness , breaking all over the shop coming through fat and then pitching sucky take offs , which made it very hard for me on the 9-1 (9-10 still getting fixed).

Rosco was the first to go and got engulfed , then I went only to get the lip in the back of the head on the way down (EPIC OVER THE FALLS) then Simo finally cracked big right hander and made it all the way through. We were hooting , then Rosco went again and didn't make around the section with the thick lip landing right on him snapping his 10-0 C4 in half so he made his way back to the boat with the deck grip holding the board together.

1 picked off another one and the 9-1 started sliding when I tried the bottom turn I still made it around the section just had to back off on the back foot (needs bigger fins).I caught one more after that and rode it in too far in and got another great flogging , after 15mins Simo got worried and started looking for me but he got caught inside as well and joined me in the Huey Spa bath , we both eventaully made it back to boat and called it a day.

We were back in by 7.30m and off to work.

Hey Rob
Is the C4 a right off or are you going to get it fixed. I snapped a 11'6 in similar way and Alex Baxter at Hayden Surf Craft on the Sunshine Coast repaired it so well it is almost impossible to tell unless you look for the slights inperfection (and I mean slightest) in a touch of his paint work.

He assured me that it would still perform peffectly and it has. I have had it out in Carties in the swell that came through last week and it was perfect.

Highly recommend his work. They are expects at fixing clubby gear so know there stuff.

Alex should have just about completed his first SUP that I saw him shaping. 10' and looks really good.

Cheers

Yeah Dogman the bar was hell a mate who fuels the trawlers said a 90 ton trawler got air going out yesterday and completely buried it coming in this morning. He must be stocking up for Easter to risk that.

Buddina the snap is very clean and repairable , how much was your repair ?

Hey Rob

Alex did a great job and it rides as well as it ever has. The repair was $300.

The fix a lot of competition boards for SLSC and do a fantastic job. I haven't noticed and weight change or perfomance change.
Cheers

Hey Piros sounds like a good morning, not for ross, lucky he has plenty of money. I tried 25 different places this morning and didn't end up getting wet. Old story, should have gone out at the first place I checked.

The sad part was Ross never really got his feet settled on that board after many surfs , a bit like me and my PSH 9-2 so I told to sell it and get another board which he was going to do.....well sh!t happens.

Here is a couple more shots of the session. the pics are'nt great beacuse of the low light and boat movement but it gives a good feel of the morning. Most of the Gold Coast was the same this morning with the N.E'ers starting to move in but we still have have big swell pulsing all week so no doubt there is many good hidings to come

This is as shot of the paddle in

This is a shot driving the out through the swell

I went over the falls on this one I'm in there somewhere

Is this a good idea

Nothing better than heading out in the boat and then seeing a few explode on the reef as you think to yourself ''Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ****...it didn't look that big 1 mile ago"
