I just thought I might let people know of the sort of experience I had buying a SUP in Adelaide. The shop staff including the manager knew the board was damaged despite my family pointing out marks to tail of the board. Once home, closer inspection revealed the gelcoat had been damaged in two places. Telephoned the store to request a new board which was duly provided without the slightest protest! When I returned the board the staff were very sheepish. What pisses me off is this type of attitude, the inconvenience and the ethics of trying to sell crap stock to customers. I can say that after being deliberately sold a damaged new SUP board I will never buy again or recommend the shop at the end of Anzac Highway!

I don't get what happened.

What happened after you telephoned and requested a new board and they agreed without protest?

Did you end up with a new board or not?

Sounds like you have made some kind of conspiracy out of something innocent. They replaced with out protest? How dare they replace it without an argument??

I worked in retail for many years. It taught me one thing: The customer is not always right.

I'm just gonna take a guess here and say that you probably screwed the shop for every cent of discount you could get as well, or was it on sale??? You looked at the board at the shop it was OK, you found damage at home and the board was replaced. No need for this Today Tonight type of stuff. Probably damaged it because you didnt know how to handle it and banged it on the way home.

My best mate showed me a survey done by Toyota. The customers that got their cars the cheapest over 3 years of those new car buyer surveys were always the least happy. Some people can just not be pleased.

P.S I get that you are implying that the store knew about the damage beforehand and that is why they replaced it so easily but I fail to see how anybody would hand over so much money without looking at it properly to start with.

Im guessing either the OP's family bought it for him or both. either way it sounds like they tried to make out like the board was fine when it clearly wasnt, just to try and move it off the floor. When the shop was put on the spot they did the right thing.

I think the OP is just pissed cause the shop could have been more up front and either offered a discount or a different board to begin with and save the hasstle.

its hard to go back to a retailer after they have played games.

making alot of assumptions without being there. I agree the wording by the OP could have been better, but I would wait for a response before pulling the trigger on them.

You're probably right mate, maybe I was a bit harsh. Not quite as harsh as venting your opinion onto a public forum after the problem had been solved so quickly though.

Don't start on pulling the trigger though, you are the worst offender for shooting people down on this entire forum. No offence of course but you've pretty much had a go at everyone.

I'm not commenting on any shop, I am commenting on the process involved.

If the board is damaged, the board is damaged!

You either offer a discount and the client leaves knowing he paid less and accepts the damaged as it is or sell him a new board. Often someone is happy to have a board with a few chips or shop soiled for less $$$

If someone questions the damage and takes the board and has buyers remorse later, so shall you sow, so shall ye reap.

Ok - I don't know the whole story about the original purchase and alleged damage to the board but WOW IMO you are way outta line shi#ting on that shop - especially after they replaced the board for you. If I owned that shop and I read your post I would be contacting you to bring the board back and giving you your money back and suggesting that in future you shop somewhere else.

From what I can make out from this post is:

1. FrancNess purchased a board which he knew may have been damaged and took it home despite warnings from his family.
2. FrancNess took a close look at the damage when he/she got home and decided he/she didn't want it.
3. FrankNess was told on the phone that the board would be duly replaced with a new board without the slightest protest.

If FrankNess got a new replacement board, I think he needs to be seeking psychiatric help rather than complaining on this forum about some shop in Adelaide.
