Hi all
I am going over to fiji for a surf trip with a few mates and then my wife and three boys are coming over. Our accommodation choices are plantation island or Shangri La. Have anyone got any feedback on either resorts or anything to add to the mix. The boys are 15 12 and 8. Love jumping off bridges into water, snorkelling and surfing.

Hi Clarky I stayed at Fiji Hideaway which is not to far away from the SL. Out the front of the resort is a reef break which is best at mid to high tide. Gets a bit hectic at less than mid tide (very shallow). Oh and you need to be aware of the large tiger shark in the channel and the bullies at the outer reef.other than that it's a nice little break

In 2011, we stayed on Shangri La for 8 nights and Treasure Island for 6 nights.
From Treasure Island we hired a boat and driver and checked out Plantation Island for future stays.
We stayed there for a few hours and loved the joint.
We plan to go there this coming Xmas.
You won't be disappointed with Plantation Island.

Your kids are too old for Shangri La.
They cater better for kids up to 7 years old.
The accom located at the lagoon side caters for rooms of 4 people only (2A,2C).
The lagoon pool is full of young kids. There are 2 smaller pools on the coast side.
The accom we stayed in is on the ocean side and is a coral bottom i.e. no sand and a bit of a walk to the lagoon.
The first dinner sitting is like Sizzler meets Kindergarten on steroids. Mate it's chaotic with young kids running crazy around buffets full of hot food,etc.

You can't beat the true island experience with Plantation and the water is cleaner then the lagoon at Shangri La.
Not sure how the surfing will work out as the cost will mount up heading to Namotu each trip.

Thanks all for your replies, we have decided on 2 nights stay at the Westin on Denaru Island first due to arriving after the last transfer to plantation island and then heading over to Plantation for 5 nights. We are planning on doing the giant zip line while at Denaru has anyone given this a go.
