Hi Guys and Gals entries are open for the first state SUP surfing round for 2013, This event will be held at Yallingup on Febuary 16 and 17, this is always an epic event at one of WA premier surf breaks. The event is held in conjunction with the HIF longboard series run by Surfing WA. We have multiple SUP devisions in what is always a great weekend. We will also be holding a approx 5km BOP race. For further enquiries and entries check out the Surfing WA website.

Hey Stimmo, I wouldn't worry too much about those starboards, they're soft

Hey Stimmo I will double check on the 14', I thought you would be keen on the over 40 surfing, you would go alright.

Hi, is there anymore information about what events are on for SUP? Perhaps rules, regs etc. there is very little on the websites(s). Anything on the BOP event in particular?

Cheers,

Ryan

There won't be too much published re the BOP race as it very much depends on the conditions and Surfing WA are very much open to suggestions on the day as to the actual course. Last year it was 8ft at Yalls and there was no way you could run a BOP race at the main break or down the beach towards rabbits, it would have been board snap central.

It also depends on where they are running the comp that day, so a bit hard to give any exact details.

As it is a qualifier for nationals it will be approx 5km long and have some sort of going in/out of the surf.

Last year was a great weekend with a good crew staying at the caravan park and close by. Kids were running everywhere and some great surfing and racing going down.

Hi Ryan

This is traditionally a SUP surfing event we follow the same format as with any surfing event, depending on copetitor numbers we may get a repecharge, the BOP race will more than likely be a 5km race from Smiths beach to Yalls main with a finish through the break and a short beach run. This will be weather dependant. I will post more details as we get closer.

Quick update SUPWA and SWA can announce that THE STANDUP SURF shop is the naming rights sponsor for the 3 state rounds. On behalf of SUPWA and SWA we would like to thank Galvo for his continued support and generosity towards SUP in WA.

Not sure what I am going to do it on if it has to be 12'6 but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
Anyone wanna swap 12'6 BOP for a super fast DC Flatwater 14, or maybe I can lop 18" of the tail.

Hi Guys

Giving consideration that not many of us have 12'6" boards you will be able to do the BOP on a 14 footer.

Who's going this year? I'm in but only doing the Over 40's this time.
Will we see the Jacko brothers?
Can Crawford back up this year with another best on ground performance? (his spew out the back was awesome ), and will Galvo ride something other than a Whopper, I've heard he may have fallen in love with his pocket rocket, and I'm not talking about his dick .
Will Rog Goodwin have even bigger shoulders this year? and there is a rumour that big Joe and Wez will be announcing their engagement The tension is building . This is stacking up to be an awesome event!!!!!!

Make sure you register for the fun at surfingaustralia.com/SurfingWesternAustralia

Yeah I saw that Marcus, it does look nice and being a DC I'm sure it is but apparently we can use a 14 so will give it a miss for now.

Once again SUPing is clashing with my kiting, (kitestock is on that weekend and I haven't missed one for 5 years), so I hope we get some good swell, have an awesome comp and party hard afterwards......but I ain't sharing a bed with any of you guy's clean shaven or not.

Basha, I can confirm that I have entered in the Open and O/40 divisions for Yals. However, this year due to the enormous toll that last years heavy schedule took on my body I will not be entering any Longboard divisions or any red wine events. I did feel like I was harshly done by not being selected for the nationals when I found out that Galvo actually spewed in one of his heats ( thats my move Galvo) and apparently it wasn't nearly as big as mine and was scored poorly for it. Looking forward to what will be a great weekend and I'm glad all those shifty 50+ guys have got there own division, might make it easier for us young blokes in the 40 somethings.
