Hi all, I am after some advice, just wanting buy my first board this weekend. Been to a couple of different shops now m confused between which board I want. Obviously the guys in the store want to sell me the boards they stock.. I live on a bay so it will mostly be for flat water but there are some small waves at the end of the bay I would like to play on, if I get good it's a 5 min walk around to a beach break with small to medium waves there is bigger surf a five minute drive away. Not sure if I'll ever be confident for that tho.
The boards I am looking at are the Atlantis hero and the bic ace-tech. I am yet to try the Vic hoping to this Sunday. I also like the look of the Atlantis waterborn illusion which I have seen online. Anyone used these boards that can give me a review or advice?
I am 5'8 weigh 65kg my hubby may ride occasionally same height weigh 80kg .. Much thanks

Should look at the Naish Alana

The benefit of buying one of the bigger brands boards is they retain a stronger resale value and are easier to move on should you decide to sell. What tends to happen is people become more comfortable they trade in their board and go smaller.

Grab a good paddle too, with every penny.

Look at board weights a few kilos can make a big difference. Our family board is big 10'x35" and it's nearly 15kgs. My wife can't lift it on/off car alone.

I don't know much about those brands you mention but for a first board I'd strongly consider second hand as well. A lot of people grow out of their first board quickly so there's usually quite a few available online. I second the comment above about watching the weight of the board. It won't feel heavy until you have to walk with it for 50 metres... or get it off the roof of the car.

Thanks guys. Yep looking for something around 10kg or less. The water is about 100 metres from my front door but I will eventually want to take it to other places.
Not having much luck finding second hand boards .. Not much on gumtree in Sydney at the mo. Any suggestions on good sites to find seconds?

Excellent choice. You can't go wrong with a Starboard Drive.
