Wow, that was an absolute hoot and PT has a new board. How strong was the wind?

It was mid 20s base at StKilda with a peak gust of 37 knots while we were out. Got over 40 just after we finished.

It was a good one alright. I'd rate it 35/35 (35 degrees, 35 knots). Lots of runners to be had.

Waiting for a 40/40 next time, roll-on summer! Isn't that the great thing about SUP, if it is light northerly go for a surf, if it is hooting - pull out the 14'er and do a downwinder.

Here is my track on the St Kilda - Green Point part of the paddle from my Search GPS watch.

Yes PT was on his new 17'6'' Ace.. What an awesome looking board..

I had one of his GoPro's mounted on my camera rig and pointed sideways in an attempt to film him catching runners along side me..

It was about 20-30 knots.

Nice one DJ. Good to see the new board is still working for you. Almost time to start frothing over 2016 models

Rosscoe, thanks for posting the track - it's always good to see the trip stats.

It's been pretty quite on the DW scene up here. Had a few good sessions in Spring but haven't scored any in the last month or so.

Thanks. Looks great. How stable is it in the bumps? Props to Starboard for investing in UL boards. I'm sure that many of us these days would switch to UL if they were more common. Yesterday I was downwinding my Naish 17 and wishing that (SIC excepted) there were more production UL boards outside of Hawaii.

Starboard has called it the GT for a very good reason - it is a genuine Gran Turismo or Grand Tourer. It is built for comfort as well as speed. If Starboard intended it simply to be the fastest production board in the world, it would be 23" wide instead of 27.5". So yeah, it is very stable on the bumps.

Great video and nice to see the Ace GT in action.

So when would you take the Ace GT vs the Ace? How strong does the wind have to be for the Ace GT to be faster than the Ace?

Hey PT, did you think the board was a good length for the pitch of the waves in the downwinder?

It looks like you had a bit of work keeping the nose out of the wave in front, but never looked like it would ever go down the mine.
