Couldn’t wait until I had completely finished it. It will take a while to get the paint in, so I’ve just sprayed a bit of undercoat onto the rails where I sanded in the glass, waxed it up and taken it out for a paddle.
The weight has come out at about 7kgs, so it feels a lot better than the 11 footer for a start, but seems to paddle just as easily, and about as stable. But once on a wave the weigh and size difference is so noticeable. I need to take it out a few more times before I really get it dialled, but already it is so much fun and so much more responsive on a wave. It makes me think I should have gone shorter. The 11” fin means it doesn’t yaw any more than the 11 footer. Though it may not nose ride as well because it has a mango coloured fin. I should have got a blue one.

The board is 9' 6" by 31 1/2" by 4 1/2" thick.
I've had it in a few more waves now and am pretty happy with the way it surfs. The big danger however is that when you start surfing a board that you haven't really finished is that you may never actually finish it. So we will see.
I started shaping windsurfer wave boards back in the early 80's for myself, progressed on to kiteboards, shortboards for the kids and now SUps. So its been a progression.
