Very nice. I love watching Ivan surf.

Very jealous of his SuckerCam - he probablly spent more than $100 but at least you can see the "big picture".

Great Vid thanks DJ. Great wave for SUPing.
The wave reminds me of La Jolla in southern Mexico. Big long right point. Love to get out in something like that

Is that Ivan Van Vuuren?
I remember him from another life-Late 80s, windsurfing in Natal and Cape Town. He was an awesome windsurfer sailor as well. I think he went to Hawaii and was producing movies there.
Same guy?

That is a great vid. Ivan has such style. I have the same board. I'm afraid it will never see that from me...sigh.

What a great board though...I actually bought it primarily for my wife. Just got it last week and took it out for a test last Sunday..was shocked that I was able to surf it at my size. Really rips....supposed to be some messy waves tomorrow...we'll see how it is in that.

I'm surprised he's riding a Starboard BTW. Didn't he start a board company? coreban.com/

That's what I thought too, Bob. I've seen vids of him riding all kinds of boards. There's even a Coreban sticker on his trailer in this vid - so it can't be old (pre Coreban) footage.

I wondered about that also.. I wonder if Starboard have signed him up like the way Naish have signed up Dave Kalama.

Hey there stoneaxe

What do you reckon, is that the 9' 8 or the 9' 0 footer in that vid ? I have just started riding the 9' 8, Really stable compared to my older board (of which brand I won't mention for fear of reprisals ) he he !! but I love it so far .

Oh and thanks again DJ

I heard it was the 9-8 but i'm not sure if that was a guess or not. I just bought the 9-8...mostly for my wife since from a previous ride on it i thought it was too small at my size. I've lost a few pounds and added a little skill i guess because I was shocked to ride it so well. I had just dropped down to my 11-2 from my 12-6 so the 9-8 was a big jump.

Caught the 1st wave I paddled for and ripped it up...by my standards anyway. I don't think anyone would have been saying" holy crap look at that guy" but it sure felt good to me. Harder turns than i've ever made and a nice long floater off the lip. Only got to ride 4 waves since it was the end of the day and the boss was waiting for me. Can't wait to try it on a big clean day. Absolutely going to change the way I surf.

Hey Stoneaxe, good to see your spreading yourself around mate

On Monday when i was in Adelaide i saw the 9'8 fish for the first time in the raw
and i liked the look of it, it was the blue and white tufskin model and was standing next to the 11'2 UB. I thought to myself that wouldn't be a bad quiver

I got an email from Ivan the other day and he had a link for me for this new Fishy vid that I had already posted..

I replyed saying that I had beat him to it and sent him a link to our Breeze forum and asked about any new DVD's in the pipeline.

This was his reply...BTW..What a cool guy.. I love his coment about all the sharks in SA helps you improve your SUP'ing..

Man Dave

You guys are on it- love your website- well done. I’ll keep you posted on new developments and DVD’s- filming a lot so planning on doing a full action DVD in 2009-

Question I saw on your site- Re: Ivan riding Starboards and other brands plus owning Coreban SUP Gear. If you want to place an answer….

I established Coreban in 2005 and I also own the video production company called Premier Hawaii- which has been producing Watersports movies from Maui for the past 15 years- through this we have established strong relationships with many of the worlds top companies, some that have recently started SUP ranges- eg Starboards, Jimmy Lewis, Surftech, C4 etc. So at times they hire Premier to film, promote or test their products- even though we have what I believe to be the best and most advanced SUP gear, we have always been about promoting the sport rather than trying to make a little SUP empire… but with that all said, keep your eyes out in Feb 2009 for the launch of the full Coreban range that will revolutionize SUP… keep on rippin’ , aloha Ivan van Vuuren.

Cool Dave, hope you are getting out there a bit- when ya coming to SA- some sic spots here… lots of sharks here so you can get good real quick…

All the best

Ivan
