Think we need an acronym for this paddle so everyone knows what we're talking about, how's The SK2SDWR ?

Thanks Cam just spoke to Justin a few minutes ago and he confirmed the St Kilda start... since Im coming from Geelong do you reckon there would be any issue just meeting you guys at St Kilda and if so reckon you would be there by 10.20am ? only problem with that I guess is getting me and board back to St Kilda ... without paddling it back of course :)

It should be SK2SVIAGPDWR. But I prefer to call it the DJ Shuffle.

Such a fun paddle today. Truly awesome to be paddling in conditions like that.

I wasn't quite able to make it to Sandy for 10am, so I thought that I could launch at south Elwood and 'intercept' the group for the remaining paddle to Sandy.

I got to Elwood probably just after 10.30am, got myself set-up on the beach quick smart, and then waited for the bunch to arrive. I waited and waited and waited, and I could not see any paddlers. I was standing on the jetty, now after 11am, staring south down to the point, and thinking: “where the hell are they?”

And then I thought I might have seen a paddler… I did see a paddler, and another. I sprinted over to my gear and strapped on my leg rope. And then I looked up, and I couldn't see any paddlers anymore. It took me a few moments to locate the paddlers I'd seen, and then I start my cross wind slog to get out there, so that I'd be sure I'd clear the wall at Brighton.

The learning I had from this is that we as paddlers in our black wetsuits etc are not very visible from the shore when the wind is howling. The spray and the froth on the water hide us.

Made me wonder if it's worth having some hi-vis material in those conditions. Any thoughts?

DJ is one step ahead, setting the trend in the high end fashion world of down winding, wearing a rather dashing Hawaiin print shirt, looking rather resplendent and I might take the liberty of saying, I had to look twice as I thought ,is that Laird? No it was DJ.....mind you the hi vis Hawaiin shirt in these conditions is good....
