Went to Thousand Peaks on south side morning for my last surf session and bumped into Giampaolo Cammarotta who writes the Maui Blog Spot
mauisurfreport.blogspot.com/He was going surfing with his Starboard 7'4" x 29.5 POD, I actually tried it last year but now it has a mast track and a single front footstrap for surfing - not windsurfing.
On the Blog he has written a really detailed report about the installation and the pro's and con's of having the strap there.
Asked if I could try it so we swapped boards and went out into small surf but at least with very few people. The 7'4 POD is actually pretty easy to paddle and quite stable. No glide and not too many strokes on each side though.
Super fun on the little waves, it's fast and so so manoeuvrable, compared to the 9'2 x 27 Kazuma I was on it was just way more fun, and actually more stable.
Found the strap a little annoying at first but then started to put my foot into it, just had hints of what it could do on a few of the cleaner faces. Surprised that it didn't feel more dangerous like you were going to twist your ankle, but I am very used to windsurf straps.
Read the blog if you are interested, I'd certainly consider putting one on now that I've tried it.
