After trying numerous boards over a long period of time, I recently purchased an AST 11'6. Although it performs very well, I worry about the AST's robust-abililty. I treat the board like a princess yet everytime I take the board out, I return to the beach to find more scuff marks, scratch marks and slight chips. Just touch the thing and you're bound to leave marks all over it. I'm only paddling on flat water and on the very rare occasion, small waves.
Very frustrating! Has anyone else experienced this?? No spell I come up with seems to work.

Gee a Wizard getting frustated, can't have that!

I picked up my new 11.4 Naish and before I took
it out ,I put some clear duct tape around the rails!
Thanks to the crew at Raw for the tip
No chips on the board put a couple of marks on the
tape!I think its mainly due to my poor paddling technique!
What type of paddle are you using

Mac, where did you get the clear duct tape from and does it have a brand?

Wizard, I have a similar thing with my 11'4 however I resigned my self to the fact that is was just part of using the board and having fun.

Just clean it with Jif or other cream cleanser. The plastic skin marks easily and scratches easily but it does not chip or crack. Cleaning it gets rid of the marks and the scratches will be almost invisible.

After several months you will notice a series of little dents from paddle impact. It's better than the holes and chips you get on other boards.

aus301, Got the tape from Bunnings $15 bucks, but well worth it!
The brand is Scotch by 3M, 50mm in width!
I put two strips along the rails one above the other,I had enough
left over to do my mates 12 footer, with about half a mtr left over
Mates shout for the next roll

This is worth trying... www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=36419 .. It's how I keep my boards looking like new.
