I've been using my 12' Glide for paddling around the St Kilda marina for my daily exercise and relaxation and I'm often asked why don't I use my new 14' Glide and wouldn't it be faster.

Well today I paddled with my mate Haro and he was on the 14' Glide and we were able to paddle both boards together on flat water.. and I took a few pics.

The 14'er is longer and more narrow so maybe it will be faster.

The 12'er is wider but also lighter so maybe it will be faster.. It's about 11kg vs about 14kg.

Well.. at the end of our paddle together there was nothing in it.. They're both about the same speed in flat water.. IMO.. but then Haro was paddling two up.. .

The 14 is so much bigger eh' Not just 2ft but the whole board looks masive.

What paddle are you useing on the boards.

From the pics it looks like the 14' would be puching alot more water with that rocker....if it was all yellow you could send it up to QLD and use it as the Big Bannana

Hey Tux,

I agree with the pushing water statement. I saw one being paddled off sandy the other day with a bigger guy on it 1.2 x DJ and the rocker in the flat water was doing it no justice at all.

I believe in open water though the rocker would be a major advantage and would work the way the C4 vortice does.

This comment is made from purely watching the board in the water.

I have not paddled a 14fter.

I'm using the poo for flat water and methane for in the surf.

You're right Phill.. The big nose rocker on the 14'er would be slowing it down some on flat water but it's very nessesarry in rough water and down-winders.

Good to see the old man 'sunbaking crew' at St Kilda Pier are back after a long absence (refer to first pic!)

Summer must be close!

Looking at Haro's pic on the 14'er most of the nose is out of the water.
Comparing the two it's almost the same amount of board in the water and
similar rocker so this might be why they are paddling at very similar speeds.
