What s shame.. As long as you have the memories.
PT gone the glass option for the allstar love to hear you thoughts on it? On weight to me they seem like the best option for a DW board, fairly light these days and more robust for handling in the wind. And the cost it's so much cheaper, especially for those with more than one board to buy
That was a demo board from the RPS Boardstore demo fleet - thanks to Warwick Lee for the loaner. It was the 28" wide version so quite a bit bigger than I'm used to. I think if you are not a hard core racer, the glass option is a no-brainer. Much cheaper, and as you say, for downwind purposes, I think there's a definite value in having just a little bit more weight. I actually found this big board was staying on the bumps unassisted by extra paddle strokes for considerably longer than my skinny carbon boards. I think that's a combination of greater planing area on the surface of the board when it is being propelled by the force of the wave, and the laws of physics pertaining to momentum and inertia - heavier mass in motion is much harder to slow down. I think the weight difference is between 1-2kg on most of the boards.
I shot some video too - I'll check later to see if I had more luck than DJ.
