I have a slight left shoulder injury, when paddling on my left side I'm veering off to the right pretty badly, I'm left handed. Am I pulling too hard with my left hand post catch or not pushing down hard enough with my top/right hand? it's p!ssing me off......the shoulder will be fine post some physio.......any thoughts in the interim welcome.

How long is your board what fin do you have what size paddle??

Most probably, your shaft is less vertical when paddling left. Try to see if you can keep the shaft in a more vertical plane without pain

I like Colas' advice. I'm right handed and have the same issue.

Ha! The collection is looking good at the mo but always room for another... running through some ideas at the mo!

Drop your elbows , keep them closer to your body , it takes stress off the joint. Re the yaw its the angle of the paddle when you pull it back. I spent 15 years in the back seat of an outrigger canoe and thats how we steer . If you take a stroke and the board pulls that way simply open up the face of the blade or angle it away to compensate.

3 major issues:
- you are left handed
- your shaft is not straight
- your quiver is too full

I am left handed and right handed people have the same problems but because they are right handed they can't see a problem!??
I agree with Colas your shaft is likely on an angle, I do it to steer on my 14fter so without a video to verify you will have to keep us updated as you go. Perhaps try standing more forward or backward on your board to find that sweet spot???

got my shaft up vertical this am and hey presto straight as a dye....or near as damn it so thanks Colas + crew. Now for a 20minute rub down through the shoulder and I'll be tip top.
